Reflection: This is my first article summary of this class. This was another learning oppritunity. It was incorrect, but thats why I learned. I now know I must have peer reviewed articles, not just any article from the news or internet.

In this article from obamacarefacts.com, it discusses the controversy of the myth of a mandatory RFID chip implant in every American in the Affordable Care Act. The law actually stated that it reserved the right to collect data from drugs and medical devices. In this case, specifically class II medical devices, which include RFID chips. The law did not require any devices to me mandatory, but it reserved the right to collect data from said devices should they be used. The Secretary of the FDA will be tasked with making a “national medical device registry” in order to analyze and monitor health devices. Several administration heads will have to identify class two devices by their type, model, and serial numbers/ identification. The original version of the Affordable Care Act did not make the RFID chip mandatory, but it laid the groundwork for future legislation on “smart” medical devices. Since the controversy over this part of the Affordable Care Act, this section of the law has been cut out.

The article goes on to state that RFID chips are something that people should look into and research more because they may have some benefits. They are safe in humans, they are already used to track animals and on bracelets for newborns and convicts, they could be used for medical and identification purposes, technology access, and even as a means of commerce and currency. They article ends saying although RFID chips may pose a threat to freedom and privacy, the public should still consider them and use technology for our benefit.
