Welcome to the About Me page, and thank you for visiting! Some of the information here is repeated elsewhere on this website, but it is much more informal. Essentially this page is to show you who I am instead of what I have done, so enjoy.

First off, I want to go into medicine. I absolutely love to help people, and the way that the human body works is so cool. Plus, I’m not afraid of blood, so with all three of these things in mind, medicine is the perfect fit for me. As an undergraduate, I spent a great deal of time in various volunteer capacities. I have volunteered at the emergency department, a volunteer construction project for the local women’s shelter, and habitat for humanity; really anything I can.

The military has played a huge role in my life since I was a kid. My father is not career military, so I never experienced the Army brat life, but I have always really liked the military as a career. I always have been the kid that wore an army uniform to school on career day. Now, I have been in two different military schools, and have learned a ton from them. I have had a lot of really bad superiors, but also a lot of really good ones, so I have made it a point to learn from every single one of them, both good and bad. This has served me well when I have held leadership positions myself, and it will continue to serve me well when I commission as an officer.

Being from 2 different military schools, work is no stranger to me. I definitely have had times where I slack off, but I learn from those mistakes. I bounce back with a vengeance and try to always go the extra mile to get things done right. Growing up, my parents always told me “if you are going to do something, do it right the first time.”  Unfortunately, I have ignored that advice in the past, but as usual, my parents were proven right.

One thing that I enjoy above everything else is the outdoors. The picture above was taken from the top of Spy Rock, a common stopping point along the Appalachian Trail. I love being able to find little moments like that and take in the beauty that surrounds me. Mankind has made some incredibly beautiful things and achieved great accomplishments, but nothing that we can do as humans can hold a candle to mother nature. I have hiked in Colorado, Texas, Virginia, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Alaska, all of which are experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I also really enjoy rock climbing. This gives me a great opportunity to stay in shape, be outdoors, and really just kick back and relax.

Anyways, all that is just a little about me. I encourage you to check out the rest of the website as it has all sorts of research work plus personal experiences. Thanks again for visiting!
