So our group has put together our survey to send out and gain data. I think the survey has a lot of good questions that are going to be interesting to see the final results from it. I think that were going to have some issues with a large amount of rats answering the survey, but there should be enough answers from the upperclasses to be okay with cutting them out. So far we have more results than I expected to get, but we might still have to go room to room asking people questions on the survey to get additional results from the upper classes.

Now that thanksgivings over and were back into the group project I think that our group has a solid idea of our topic and our research questions are going in the right direction. We did have a few issues where a revisit to the question may have been a good Idea to help improve what we are doing but ultimately seems like our question was fine. The survey questions we worked on seem like they can be worded into a way that will give us the best results, but to me it seems a bit difficult tobe smart about making questions for our audiecne.

Homework 11/28

I think for my definition of rhetoric a few things would have changed from the begining of class. I would keep that rheotric is a for of argument. What I would change would be that rhetoric is neutral and whether it is being used for good or bad comes from who the user is. I think I would add that rhetoric does not need to be writen or verbal and that it something that can be in other forms such as art or buildings. I think would also add that rhetoric needs to have some kind of background information to it to be effective and that some sort of knowledge helps sort out the good rhetors from bad rhetors.

Homework 11/16 Research possibility

I think that the second or third question given in the outline would be interesting for me to answer.

For the second question I think a hypothesis that might be interesting to write about would be that for ethical leadership having strong persuasive speech that has some fact in it is key in being able to convince people to move into action.

For the third question I would say that rhetoric is intertwined with politics throughout the world and that succesful leaders are able to tell people with they want and use their speech to motivate people into a direction they want as a leader.

Homework 11/14

Rhetoric’s domain after the collapse of athens has changed in several ways. Rhetorics focus seems to have shivted away from being just a methodology of argument and one that is used in a political context. It has stayed the same in the Roman empire in its use in politics, and law, but there seems to be a large shift to its use in promoting religious values or beliefs.  The use of rhetoric in the Roman Empire has placed a high value on the promotion of christianity. This new religion  had influenced rheotric in general inside rome.

As SPSS comes to a close I think that I learned a lot about this tool. It seems easy to use tome and with the SPSS guide book as an aid all of the worksheet information has been easy to do because if I had a problem the answer was somewhere in there. As our group goes more towards working on the group project its time to get a lot of that work in.
