The second I had heard we were doing a straw poll; I knew exactly who I was going to vote for. Too simple and too easy. I would never vote for Donald Trump, and zero chance I could in good conscience vote for Hilary Clinton. I would cast my vote for Gary Johnson, the only candidate I believed had any modicum of leadership and professionalism. So you can imagine my surprise I took the isidewith.com survey and found that I aligned with Donald Trump. Gary Johnson was a close second, but still I found myself in a serious moment of self reflection, thin king how could I possibly have aligned with Donald Trump.

I think the real reason that the survey turned out the way it did was because it failed to take in one major factor that plays a role into how people choose candidates: the human factor. Effectively, when given strict answers for a survey, it is entirely possible that my beliefs, which are generally republican, align generally with Donald Trump’s policy. However, the human element, which determines compassion, the general “it” factor in leadership, as well as a candidate’s pragmatism, cannot be quantified in a poll. It is with this belief that I reconcile the fact that when surveyed, I aligned 91% with Donald Trump.
