The Religious Context of Jackson Pollock’s Action Painting

Although Action Painting is supposed to be removed from being “read,” I can’t help but make a contextual connection to the work of Jackson Pollock. This connection, one which I personally feel is very viable, is that of mysticism as it is presented through the Islamic scope, also known as Sufism. Sufism is the veneration of God through mystic means, and it focuses on being one with the creator and the creation, in essence that all things are interconnected and are one being.
