In this tweet, Bangladesh’s ruling party “Awami League” posted news that Bangladesh’s brand value apprised from 2022 to 2023 by 37% from $371 billion to $508 billion according to the post on Brand Finance website. However, the tweet also states that Bangladesh boosted its economic development recently, especially under the governing party “Awami League”. Also, it is essential to note that the tweet points out the information that this economic development of Bangladesh is also twice bigger as Pakistan’s and 10 times bigger than Sri Lanka’s. I think this is the very essential sign, where “Awami League” and Bangladesh’s government is trying to show that Bangladesh and whatever is done by the government is bringing benefit to the state and society, where it is way better than other states, especially Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the biggest rivalries of Bangladesh in the South Asia region, where Bangladesh doesn’t have a good relationship with Sri Lanka and especially with Pakistan. I think this is a very important political move to downplay both Sri Lanka and Pakistan and also to show Bangladesh’s population and society that under “Awami League” and its governmental officials that Bangladesh’s economy is “developing” and is in a way better development and shape rather than Sri Lanka’s and Pakistan’s. Also, I think it is some kind of moral booster for Bangladesh’s population to show that under “Awami League”, Bangladesh is in better “economic development” than other South Asian states.
