Scenario:

Myanmar is in a state of civil war after the military mounted a coup against the democratically elected government. The military junta, known as the Tatmadaw, resides on the seat of government while elected officials of the formerly democratic government formed a government in exile named the National Unity Government. The deposed government seeks to make the international community aware that engaging in any form of official diplomacy, economic relations, or event military support to the junta is destabilizing and further legitimizes an undemocratic regime. Members of ASEAN are concerned over the instability within their region, especially as they are emphasizing the need for peace and stability for a region with growth potential. Retno Marsudi, Indonesian foreign minister, said she seeks to engage “all stakeholders” in Myanmar, unfortunately, giving an audience to the junta may only have unintended consequences of lending international legitimacy to the regime as an official government rather than an illegitimate regime. The junta is well-known for its campaign of disinformation, euphemizing and shifting the blame for humanitarian crises in Myanmar thus reducing diplomatic pressure.

In a market, there is a pair of storekeepers who always seem to be quarreling quite loudly gaining the attention of the other stands and sellers. The two, Min and Aung both manage a shoe stand but are always at odds with how it is run. Min runs the stand while Aung makes the shoes. Min is always critical of Aung’s shoes, as they always seem unappealing to customers, hence Min would bully Aung behind the stand and initiate quarrels, placing the blame for their unprofitable business on Aung. Every other shopkeeper thinks that both are responsible for drawing customers away from their market and are discussing amongst them how they would resolve the situation as the shoe sellers have not shown any progress in resolving their disputes, many are considering ousting both of them from the market but should mediate the situation first among the both of them and listen to both their stories.

Little do they know, Min does little to help with making the shoes, the only money they ever earn, Min keeps three-fourths of it for himself, while the rest is given to Aung for herself which she uses to buy more material to make the shoes. She does not know this as Min runs the stand and collects the money while Aung works in the workshop without knowing how much their business earns. Min wishes to run the stand for himself to keep this arrangement even though Aung could have earned more for their business if she ran the stand and used more of the money they earned to make better shoes from better materials.

But we know otherwise because Thagyamin is always watching. As truth-bearers, we must stand against this injustice and let the other storekeepers know exactly how much more Min is keeping their earnings for himself and raise three fingers in the air for the shopkeepers to know the truth at the People’s Square and Park next to the market on the day Thagyamin visits us on Earth.
