This is a paper from the Civic Discourse class taken Fall semester of 2015. I wrote this letter to the directors of the local news broadcasting agencies in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In this paper I gathered information and data from various sources to assist in proving that it is up to the media to aid in the country’s problem with police brutality, marginalization, and racial profiling. I do this by referencing recent cases of police brutality and mistreatment, the Rodney King case, and the statistics behind the brutality. This paper was used to ethically persuade the news agencies to change from sensationalizing the cases and using the victims as a profit while still that they could make a large profit from it.
