Meditation on the Chess

footbridge-over-tributaries-to-the-mauryDuring my meditation on the Chessie Trail, I found myself seeing more into the trail than I did before. It is much easier to enjoy the trail when I am not being yelled at and hounded for random things. I was, normally, only on the trail because of rat activities. I never actually went out on the trail onto the trail by myself. The Chessie Trail is much more vibrant and colorful when I can go there on my own accord. Once I began to forget about all the bugs and potential bug bites that I was going to acquire while I was out there it felt pretty nice. The trail is a much calmer and more peaceful area than the bustling and loud barracks and I could, maybe, find myself going out there to do homework or study, only after I spray myself down with a few cans of bug spray. Along the trail I began to take out my headphones. It was very quiet and tranquil. An evening walk along the Chessie Trail could prove very enriching and entertaining for anyone. The river and the trail must have been a very nice and entertaining area for the citizens around the area during the 19th and 20th centuries. I could only imagine people swimming and walking along the trail having a great time. I could see children loving playing in the water or playing hide n’ seek around the trail. The Chessie proved to be one of the more enjoyable spots in Lexington. My walk along the Chessie allowed me to get a much better understanding of the area. I can now understand why and how the trail is so important to VMI and the Lexington community. It is not just a trail. It is a place of relaxation and a place of tranquility. It was an important hub area for Lexington before. However, now, it has become a place for peace and quiet, allowing its visitors to get out of the streets of Lexington and enjoy a nice piece of scenery and a piece of history. I truly enjoyed meditation on the Chessie.
