According to The Wall Street Journal on January 26, 2015, President Xi of the Chinese Communist Party announced that he and his cadre of staff will look to a new style of political leadership for the party by switching to a “collective action” approach over older Maoist practices. According to the article, China has relied on its amazing economic boom which would in turn effect political choices; however, one of the new strategies being proposed are think tank advisory panels to help form policy. Conservative leaders are happy about these changes, but the possible effects of group think or effectiveness are still yet to be seen. This is a large issue that is coming to the media’s attention in China as it has been published in the headlines of its large newspapers. These are definitely new changes that have potential to succeed or fail. One thing is for sure, President Xi is looking at these new changes to redefine the role of policy making and put politics back in charge of economic planning.
