The film Valkyrie was produced in 2008 and was directed by Bryan Singer. The film is best known for Tom Cruz’s role as Claus von Stauffenberg, a famous Resistance fighter. The film was rated 7.1/10 on IMDB an independent movie rating sight, which is a very good rating considering very few movies reach this score. I think this movie achieved such a high rating due to its superb acting and thrilling story. I found myself very deeply engaged, for instance during the July 20th plot I was glued to the front of my seat rooting on Stauffenberg (Cruz) even though I knew the ending. Which brings me to my next point, Valkyrie did a great job of keeping the audience engaged considering most people watching knew exactly how it would end, Hitler would live, the resisters would die. The only real criticism I could give would be that it is in English and many of the actors had British accents. To make a truly authentic film it should be filmed in German or if it must be in English, use German accents. All in all this movie accomplished its mission well, it was fun to watch, it made a lot of money, and most importantly it paid homage to some of the bravest men of WWII.
