Who am I?

Surprisingly, I ask myself that often. I use to be one that questioned my identity. Not realizing I am mere entity. I consider myself a creation that is rare. Put together by almighty God himself, the one we call heavenly.

The daughter of a man who was wrongly convicted, acquitted of all charges, we call that a felony.
I am someone who craves so desperately to be “better than I ever was” my momma always told me.
I am one who doesn’t know what its like to grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth. Despite the stories I hear, I sit and nod my head without a single once of jealousy.

I am blessed and thankful for the life I have, but this is only the beginning.

Who am I you ask? I am a New York born, south side raised kid who fits the stereotype so perfectly.
Single mom, dad in jail, with particularly short life expectancy. Yet, here I stand telling you I am so much more than that.

Who am I you ask?
I am one that will vibe with Badu, twerk to Beyoncé, and worship with Bryon. I am, a black women, proud of the heritage that comes before me.
I am a legacy. One that will flourish despite every obstacle I see in front of me.

With hopes to leave my mark one day. VMI’s Class of 2018, one of the 6 African Americans females that will walk across that stage successfully. As we often refer to ourselves, the silent minority.

I am proud.

I am, an athlete, a track athlete, one who hates running and can barely pass the VFT.
I am in the top three fastest girls in the Southern Conference but will fight till the death if you asked me to run more than 400 meters.

I am family oriented, family focused, and family driven. Everything I do, I do it with them in mind without a second (opinion, decision

Did I mention I’m a daughter to two, a sister to nine, and friend to many. I call this the perfect recipe. I stand fearless to any man or women that walks this earth along side of me, except my momma.

My younger siblings think I am their world and I think the absolute same. To them, I am their personal dress up dolly, Mortal Kombat teammate, and SpongeBob watching partner. All of which is true, on occasions, but what they don’t know is how hard I work to be a positive role model for each of them.

To others I am mysterious and I’m often told that I’m too serious.
What can I say? I am a Scorpio, one who is trustworthy, loyal, and caring. I’m independent too say the least, but according to my boyfriend I can be quite needy at times. I think he should be the last to talk, given that he’s the one always asking for food when I’m not in the mood. This is why his contact name is saved under greedy.

Did I mention, I am a chipotle lover, the football teams number one fan, and a sweets junky? To the women that came into Starbucks every Wednesday night for their book club, I’m their favorite barista. I am one who makes a mean vanilla bean frappe.

Who am I you ask? I am who I say I am, and I am me.
