Thesis statement Paper 4

Getting the ideas out on paper isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but when it effects the development of the ideas, a red flag is thrown. A large problem I run into is the underdevelopment of my ideas and therefore decentralized structure of the paper. This decentralized structure of the paper creates a weaker argument, and a weaker paper as a whole. Yet, I have gotten better at creating a stronger organized paper by going through the quick draft to seperate and then tie the ideas together.

Global issues I have with writing:

Typically, when I write, I make the effort to just get the ideas out on paper. This leads me to getting some ideas out, but many of these ideas are left underdeveloped. I typically don’t struggle with creating ideas, but just finding the idea that I truly want to write about.

Problem of writing

A problem of writing I had throughout this year was writing in the active voice. It is a problem because writing in the passive voice does not address the thesis as clearly, creating a weaker argument as a whole. Once realizing the use of passive voice as an issue, sentence by sentence analysis points out the flawed structures.

Homework Due 4/11/19

I now understand that an important part of the fandom is their identity. This identity begins with finding a name for their fandom. If they don’t agree with the name, it could be because they don’t recognize themselves as members of the fandom, or that they don’t find it to be a fandom. So, with my research, I may want to recognize the members of a fandom to have a name. They may fit in, or they may stand out. In my second paper, my interviews, a concept I saw was the concept of counter culture and bandwagon. They may want to join one community or the other for these reasons strictly.

With tying in secondary sources, it gives myself the opportunity to attack the argument with both sides taken into consideration. I can pull from sources that counter my argument and my claim. Then, with my sources and my argumentation I will counter their counter. This would create a stronger claim.

I would like to further question and seek more information about the fandom’s online presence, and the trend that it is following.
