What if men could menstruate?

So, what if men could menstruate? Other than the fact that it would be very weird if a man suddenly got a period for no reason and had to start riding the cotton pony, I believe that it would completely change society. Furthermore, I firmly believe that this society change would be in favor of men. This is for a few reasons that will be explained throughout this paper. However, sort of a disclaimer before I continue any further; some of these opinions may come off as sexist or ill informed. However, the information that is going to be presented has its roots in a movement known as “MGTOW.” MGTOW stands for “Men Going Their Own Way” and the basis of the movement is that a large portion of the male population is now choosing not to pursue relationships with women until society and the courts go back to a more egalitarian view. This meaning that they want a society change were marriage is not so much a “love” based contract but more of a “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” attitude where separation leaves both parties at equal loss and staying together benifits both parties financially (Not just emmotionally).

So what are the facts of the MGTOW movement?  Since 1997 the number of successful marriages has dropped from 35% to 29%. Since 1960 the number of married couples has declined from 71% to 52%. Lastly between the age groups of 18-29, only 20% of people are getting married or even considering marriage (These numbers provided by adw.org). So why is this and what does it have to do with menstruation? Simple, men are tired of getting screwed over by women emotionally and by the courts and  furthermore, women are tired of a society they see as male dominated. Furthermore, with the current legal and social system in place, as I stated in a previous paper, marriage no longer financially makes sense. However, that brings me to the topic of marriage.

If men are so tired of women why do they still chase after them? That question can also be answered simply; men like having sex and deep down, every male has the desire to reproduce. If men were the ones who had periods (and had the ability to bear children with no other assistance) , I believe that women would no longer make sense of an evolutionary level and would slowly dwindle out of existence.

In conclusion, as this will be the topic for my final paper I don’t want to spoil to much. Also, this paper is not meant to be offensive. I personally wish there would be a society switch where men and women were treated equally in every aspect. However, I am also a realist and don’t believe in trying to convince myself that humans are any different than any other living thing. Although humans are very complex society and all mannerisms can be explained through primal instinct
