The reflective essay that I wrote for class is a culmination of my learning and experiences throughout the semester. When deciding what to write about in reflection I looked back towards the beginning of the academic year. On the first day of class, we were given a handout and told to answer a few short questions about India. The questions asked about our knowledge on the topic and overall, they were a good indicator of how much we knew about India. Looking at that worksheet, I drew out my thesis and decided to write about the differences between our society versus the differences between Indian society. As I wrote the paper I drew inspiration from various topics. I think that the influences in my reflection came mostly from in class lectures but, I also used topics from my 1st response paper as well as, my work in my ePortfolio. Beginning the year, I was unsure of what to expect from a civilizations and cultures class but, in the end I think that I really enjoyed it and because of it I am more aware of the world around me.
