I was originally pretty frustrated working on worksheet 2 but then once we went over it in class it made much more sense. It’s the same actions just with different data sets. I felt much more comfortable towards the end of worksheet 2 because I was doing the same actions in SPSS over and over so that I could do it without pollock walking me through it anymore. The textbook is really helpful at the beginning stages of each worksheet because pollock walks you through every step with pictures. I find it helpful to try and do the end last few problems on each worksheet without the help of the book to make sure I understand exactly what pollock was trying to get across in the book. Practice is very necessary to do well in this class and the more worksheets I do, the more comfortable I am with SPSS.

initial thoughts on the class
I put off taking this class until the very last semester because it worried me for several reasons. The first is that I’m terrible with computers. I know how to turn it on and open word or Netflix, that’s about it. The second reason is that I’m not very good at math (I had to retake rat statistics because I failed it the first time). The third is because I’ve heard other IS majors that have AC stars say that it’s difficult. With all of these things against me, I still tried to come into the class with a positive attitude.
After doing the first reading it seemed pretty easy conceptually because Pollock did a good job of laying everything out step by step in the book. But then we did activities in SPSS on our own and I was completely lost. I think that once we use it more and become more familiar with it that it will be easier but right now the class still worries me.
