Class Notes on Networked Individualism 9/23/15

Networks have become more individualized with the introduction of computerized communication. Examples of how the internet provides a source for networked individualism to form can be found in all forms of social media. The author of the text being read discusses how with social media or computerized communication we place people in our social networks for their future use, and not necessarily for their overall worth. An example of this would be friending someone on facebook who you do not exactly know, but they seem to have a lot of other similar friends. Often times people communicate with others online who they would normally not. This could potentially increase social network, but that is not always the case with computerized communication because there is a social barrier created by lack of face to face conversation. Online conversations can be considered individualized, because you are really talking and planning conversation based on your personal goals/outcomes.

Infrastructure: Following, Inner thought
