Planned Immersion Activities
- Listening and Viewing: Netflix/Xfinity and Apple Music
2. Real-Time Conversation: WeSpeke and Spanish Convo Table
3. Writing: Written communication through WeSpeke
Goals
- Be able to watch a TV show or movie in Spanish with Spanish subtitles and have full comprehension.
- Be able to comprehend music lyrics as I listen without viewing the lyrics.
- Maintain a written form of communication without looking up vocab words and conjugations often.
- Maintain a verbal conversation without pauses longer than 45 seconds and reduce my aid on dictionaries in conversation.
- Be excited to speak Spanish to others instead of being nervous and scared.
Goal-achievement Indicators
- After I watch a TV show or movie in Spanish (with Spanish subtitles) be able to give a summary of the events that took place in the episode or movie and then check if my summary is accurate. As the semester goes on the closer my summary is to the actual plots and events the better I know that I am comprehending Spanish.
- As I listen to music be able to translate the lyrics and understand the meaning. I will check the Spanish lyrics to see if I heard the correct Spanish words and then I will check the English lyrics for proper meaning to see if my ability to understand and process Spanish music is improving.
- Print out of my written communication with a record of what words I needed assistance with for vocab and conjugation to prove throughout the semester I am needing less assistance.
- A recording of a WeSpeke conversation will demonstrate I can maintain a short convo in Spanish with pauses that are no longer than 45 seconds. I additionally would like to record what words I looked up to see if I am improving in my vocabulary and memory of commonly used words/phrases.
- By the end of the semester if I am excited to do the immersion activities and am doing more than 2 hours a week of immersion activities I know I have over come the battle of being afraid to talk to people in Spanish.
