For my advocacy project this semester I want to do a project focusing on youth 14-24 who do not have a safe place to seek help for mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, ect. I want to advocate for increased assistance for these people in a private setting free from interference from outside sources. I know there are agencies that are open for people to seek help. Colleges typically always have a counseling center. However, I do not know:
– what resources outside of school there are for people who need help?
-If someone is under 18 what resources can they go to without their parents knowledge?

- Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. (2014 CDC WISQARS)
- Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for college-age youth and ages 12-18. (2014 CDC WISQARS) (http://jasonfoundation.com/prp/facts/youth-suicide-statistics/)
I think in our attempt to protect our children we also isolate them at times.
