Progression Towards Argumentation
The Development of a Rhetor
The concept of this paper allowed me to reflect on this past semester and evaluate the three essays in order to demonstrate my development as a rhetor. It is a reflection on my writing process, rhetorical devices, and sentence structures that I utilize to persuade the audience. This paper changed the way I write by illustrating my developing throughout the semester.
Anthropogenic Climate Change: Fact or Fiction?
This paper was a rhetorical analysis on the comparison of a mass media article and a scientific journal. By evaluating these rhetorical situations, I learned to identify devices utilized by an author to persuade an audience. The paper was personally one of my best pieces and helped me to understand the foundation of rhetoric.
My Evolution of Literacy
This was my first paper for the course and a true learning experience. The topic prompted me to explore my nature as a rhetor and identify the basis for why I write the way I do today. By evaluating my mistakes, such as structural confusion, I was able to develop myself as a rhetor in the subsequent papers.
Evaluating Faith and Structure
By exploring the concept of discourse communities, I was able to acknowledge my intended audience and compare the communities of faith and church. This paper, my second essay, grew on the first’s flaws, but still consisted of errors, such as vagueness and contextual mistakes. I utilized these errors to better myself as a rhetor in the third paper.
