Swales Vs. Gee

Similarities:

• Both see discourse in many communities.
• Both point out difference from social and Discourse communities.

Differences

• Swales explains more about how a Discourse community exists.
• Gee explains his types of Discourse community.
• Gee does not appeal to readers as well as Swales does.

Swales ideas of Discourse communities are helpful to the current project we are working on because it is written better for me to understand and the concepts are much more relatable then Gee’s ideas of primary and secondary discourse and dominant and non dominant discourse.
