My essay describes the struggles I had to overcome during English as a Second Language course, which included passing the final exam. This piece of writing is directed to all the students who are having hard time in certain classes or are planning to take an important exam. My thesis persuaded to never give up when times are hard and to always remember importance of a moment. This essay should motivate the audience to study more and be ready for the final exams.
Throughout the essay I worked on showing rather than telling the story to the audience. For example, when seeing a teacher I said, “Her skin tone, dirty blond hair, emerald eyes, long neck, and even the way she sits on the old wooden chair are almost equal of my relative that is thousands of miles east of here.” I also used flashbacks to introduce the story and to get the reader more interested. My first flashback was, “Until age of 11 I lived in a Crimean capital, Simferopol. These flashbacks mainly focused on my life in Crimea and the work throughout English as a Second Language classes.
I also developed new writing and thinking skills. Previously I used to write my first drafts as careful as possible, but I learned how to write a “shitty rough draft”, and I believe that it worked really well. I also got better at placing thesis in most efficient spot. Some skills such as using more complex vocab and better proofreading of the first draft are something I have to work on throughout this English Class. I forgot to use comas in 5 sentences in the 4th paragraph of the 2nd rough draft but fortunately I was able to fix these mistakes for the final draft. For the final draft I checked to make sure that paragraph placement is correct. Basic grammar mistakes is something I looked for also in order to ensure that my final draft is ready. I definitely learned much from this draft and some development has occurred but I am still long ways from my goal as a writer.
