I am currently a student enrolled in my sophomore year at the Virginia Military Institute. As a child and often times throughout my teenage years, I dreamt of being able to help people as much as possible when I grew up. Maybe it was in my family background (both of my parents are in the medical field), or maybe it was just because I had a desire to be something different than most people; I’m not really sure yet. As soon as I became of age, 16 years old, I went and submitted an application to my local fire department so that I could begin to volunteer my time for the betterment of my community. I went through an EMT class and got many different certifications so that I could get a jumpstart on being able to help people in the, quite often, darkest times of their lives.
From there, I found myself at VMI with the help of some alumni in my family, who really pushed me to come here. In continuing on with the wish to help people and my already decent medical background, I decided that I would major in Biology and try to go to Medical school to become a trauma surgeon after graduation. This way I could really help to save lives of people who were in very bad shape from all sorts of injuries that nobody ever wants to have. This is what I am currently doing today. I’m working hard to achieve these goals and hope to be in Medical school within the next few years.
