Malcolm X and Brandt In-Class Writing

Malcolm X has some literary sponsors that are similar to Brandt in that he had the library, fellow inmates and other people in the prison. Other sponsors include the books themselves, the donors to the library who he mentions briefly in the passage. The sponsors that were with Malcolm X helped him learn in many ways. The library provided the means for him to get the books he wanted to read and continuously provide new books throughout his time at the prison. Also the other inmates that helped him learn and give him new books helped him grow even more. One thing that did not help him was the guards and lights out because at that time he had to stop reading at every hour so that the guards can walk by and make sure that he is sleeping.  His time in prison and the way he learned and got his books helped him because he now knew of means to continue his learning.

MY school did ban certain books which, in my opinion, was pointless because the reasons they are banned are not valid anymore and area  good lesson to learn. Also in English my teachers would supply a book list to choose from which would hinder the students in what they want to learn. All of these sponsors whether good or bad shape how students at my school learn and think because it gives them a focus for learning and thinking.
