Some school work is personal because it has the ideas that came from your own head spurred by past experiences. And school can have personal elements brought into it like in history class writing an essay about WW2 I have a different type of personal tones and facts to bring into the essay. However, that makes the essay have personal content but that does not mean the essay is personal. Having a personal essay means to be able to write about anything without constraint on a topic that is truly personal to the person writing. When bringing in personal elements to an essay it shapes school work because it becomes easier to write and to talk about. On the contrary, a regular school work can be very hard to write due to a loss of ideas or other personal things going on in life that affect the ability to write.
