The opening sections of the syllabus demonstrates that the students will learn about writing and rhetoric whether the students realize they are learning or not as stated in the opening paragraph about the new media and other social websites.
The character constructed is one that is seen as treating the students as intro level students due to the fact that the syllabus does include a large amount of detail and explanations. Dr. King does have a PhD which asserts that her teaching style does in fact engage the students in class and is able intrigue the students into a continuation on learning writing and rhetoric.
The high values of the instructor does help the syllabus because the instructor does in fact have a PhD.
