Northern Baroque Madness

Learning about the Northern Baroque style painting were very interested. I choose to evaluate two paintings Anthony van Dyck, Charles I at the Hunt. Oil on canvas and Hyacinthe Rigaud. Louis XIV. Oil on canvas. Sir Charles I at the hunt was well painted. You see Charles I standing with swagger, well clothed

and seems very calm and collective due to the use of cool colors in painting. This painting has a realistic feel to it. The bodies and horse are well proportioned and Charles I is towering of the landscape in the background.

Louis XIV in his painting is standing will confidence the same way Charles I is. It almost seems the Riguad tries to make Lousi XIV legs like a females thats just my opinion. But you see the cool colors in this painting as well and Louis is well clothed represents his wealthiness and royalty. This painting has a realistic feel to it as well. The painting is vertical due to the placement of objects such as the bolder in back and chair. There is deep shading that you can see in the painting give it depth. Both paintings seem to show these two men has very tall people.
