Writing Assignment–“Writing Arguments” Chapter 5

Although the Affordable Care Act was passed with good intentions, it causes more problems than it is worth. For example, in essence, the Affordable Care Act forces private citizens to make a purchase. That is unconstitutional. Yet people are now required to buy health insurance. This problem is compounded by the fact that since unusually low cost health insurance is provided to the less wealthy, everyone else will have to pay for more than they’re getting. Essentially forcing them to buy coverage for others. An additional problem with the ACA is that there is a requirement for employers who have 50+ full-time employees to provide health insurance. This would be a significant motivation for employers to hire less full-time employees thus hurting the employment (Kliff). These negatives out weigh the positives of the ACA.
