Jargon of the Scouting Discourse Community

Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)- the most senior boy in the troop in terms of position. Leads patrol leaders.

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL)- second most senior boy in troop in terms of position. Leads “support leaders”

Quartermaster (QM)- in charge of troop gear. Reports to ASPL.

Troop Guide- In charge of mentoring/leading new scouts. Reports to SPL.

Order of the Arrow- Scouting’s secretive national honor society.

Order of the Arrow (OA) Representative (OA Rep.)- liason between OA and troop. Reports to ASPL and OA chief.

MB- Merit badge

Court of Honor (COH)- semi-annual troop awards ceremony

ECOH- Eagle Scout COH

Patrol Leader (PL)- leads a group of about 8 scouts.

APL- Assistant Patrol Leader
