sourceIn the last post, we discussed the organization of how to write a cover letter.  Today’s post provides a sample cover letter for your convenience.  The following example is written as though I am applying for a position as a tutor at the Writing Center.  Even though the details of this mock letter are unique to tutoring at VMI, the basic organization can be applied to just about any position. The most important thing when writing a cover letter is to specifically tailor the details of your letter to the position for which you are applying. Nothing says carelessness in a job candidate than a run-of-the-mill, form letter.

Finally, proof read your letter until you can proof read no longer.  The Writing Center is the perfect place to bring your letter for help with organization and proof reading.  Professional and cadet tutors are happy to help, so stop on by!
